The PSA pop report lists 40% fewer graded 87′ Fleer Basketball Wax Packs than 86′ Fleer Basketball Wax Packs.

While no basketball rookie class could ever match the 1986 checklist, the 1987 class does include the rookie cards of Otis Thorpe, Detlef Schrempf, Terry Porter, Chuck Person, John Paxson, Nate McMillan, Jerome Kersey, Ron Harper, A.C. Green, Dale Ellis, Johnny Dawkins, and Brad Daugherty.

The 1987 Fleer Basketball Series also contains a plethora of second year cards of NBA HOF legends featuring Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, Isiah Thomas, Clyde Drexler, Joe Dumars, Patrick Ewing, James Worthy, Dominique Wilkins, Akeem Olajuwon, and Chris Mullin.
